What’s your weekend plan? Celebrating Woman’s Day? Have you thought about your plans? Perhaps a celebration for Women’s Day or engaging in some community service? Let me share my weekend experience, filled with a series of community service activities and capped off with mini-celebrations with friends and a delightful movie night.
Participating in volunteering Activities at Umm Al Quwain’s National Sports Event
Commencing a weekend of community service and Women’s Day festivities proved to be a heartwarming and exhilarating experience. This weekend seamlessly intertwined the joy of volunteerism with the celebration of womanhood, offering a glimpse into a world where meaningful activities and festive celebrations harmoniously co-exist.
National Sports Event: A Tapestry of Community Unity
The weekend commenced with a volunteer event at the Umm Al Quwain Community Park, hosting a national sports extravaganza. The atmosphere vibrated with energy as both children and adults enthusiastically participated in various sports activities. Playing a role in organizing walks, games, and cultural dances was a delightful experience, showcasing how sports can unite communities, promote physical well-being, and nurture teamwork across all age groups.
Witnessing the determination in participants’ eyes and the sheer joy emanating from their accomplishments served as a poignant reminder of life’s simple pleasures and unnoticed achievements.
Partnering with Local Traffic Departments to Enhance Road Safety
In the spirit of community service, the afternoon was dedicated to collaboration with the local traffic department. Our focus was on raising awareness and fostering community engagement, achieved through interactive booths. These booths educated attendees on road safety, the significance of obeying traffic signs, and the collective responsibility we all share in ensuring road safety.
Interactive Engagement: A Fun Approach to Learning
One captivating activity involved traffic department officers interacting with the public, posing questions about traffic, streets, and city landmarks. Correct answers were rewarded with tokens of appreciation. Participating in this activity was not only educational but also fascinating. Beyond learning about responsible driving, attendees gained insights into the dangers of distractions, such as texting while driving.
It was a day of learning and enjoyment, contributing meaningfully to our community.

Unwinding on Women’s Day: A Casual Evening of Celebration
After a fulfilling day of volunteering, the evening called for shedding the day’s fatigue and preparing for a relaxed Women’s Day celebration with friends. Town coffee shops served special Women’s Day treats, transforming the entire mall into a sea of empowered women, both young and old, clad in pretty pink. Meeting friends at our favorite cozy café, we discussed the day’s adventures, enjoyed lunch, and planned to catch a thrilling movie, settling on a psychological thriller. For dinner, we opted for a local South Indian restaurant, putting a perfect end to a well-spent day.
A Culinary Adventure: South Indian Delights
Our movie choice sparked invigorating conversations about women’s representation in media and the progress yet to be made. Following the movie, we relished a delightful dinner at a South Indian eatery, savoring succulent lamb, comforting chicken soup, and incredibly soft Indian bread. Complimentary shots of chili-flavored water with melon added an exciting kick to the evening—a truly delightful dining experience!
Celebrating Women’s Day is not just about acknowledging global struggles and successes but also cherishing personal bonds and shared moments that give life meaning.
The weekend seamlessly blended community service with Women’s Day celebrations, underscoring the diverse forms of service and the value each of us brings. Celebrating Women’s Day emphasizes unity, empowerment, and the special bonds we share.
Filled with gratitude and a reinforced belief in the power of community and friendship, I pose the question to you, dear readers: How did you spend your weekend? Did you engage in volunteer work or discover a unique way to celebrate Women’s Day? Share your stories, inspiring each other to make every weekend as memorable as this one.
Cheers!- Sips with Noora
